Two suspects were charged in court for allegedly obtaining money from a woman by promising that they would help her lose weight.

Susan Francis and Mwangi Waweru (pictured above), the alleged doctor, were both charged with defrauding Judith Mawia Munyoki on diverse dates between August 18-24. It is stated that they falsely pretended that they would offer her a self-administering injection for weight loss.

Reportedly, the complainant was referred by a friend to make a point of seeing Mwangi citing that he had helped women trim their bodies. After the meeting, it is alleged that the complainant sent the money to the accused person in three installments.

Days later, it is reported that the complainant was at a guest house in Rongai where she found two men - including Waweru who allegedly introduced himself as a specialized doctor.

It is reported that the complainants were directed to lie on a bed and there being a guest house, forcing her to inquire but she was told the clinic was busy and the procedure required a lot of privacy.

Her tummy was cleaned with methylated spirit and massaged before the three left claiming the purported doctor had gone to collect some stuff for the operation.

After three hours in the room alone, the complainant sensed that she was duped. She reported the matter at Embakasi Police Station. The accused denied the charges and were released on a cash bail of Sh70,000 each. The case is coming up for a hearing on March 27, 2024.
